Hindrance

Hindrance

A Poem by Laura Ex

The words rushed across an ocean
Dilapidated by the tide, screaming in and out
Much like the thoughts crowded, hurried in my mind.
I heard your soul, and yet pretended not
If I had acknowledged it, the sunrise might have
Turned itself around.
To immerse my world into a complete darkness.
One unlike all the reds, oranges, and navy blues I
Have ever experienced.
And although the words you seemingly never
Expressed are supposed to bring about
Whites, periwinkles, and the ever-soaring greens.
I imagine I am too fearful to hold such memories.
And colors.
I am also too scarred to retain such sentiments
In my own mutilated heart and body for long enough
To tell you “I Love You”
                                                               And mean it.

Beautiful imagery and metaphors...
A sad note to not feel worthy of being loved!
Nicely done!
