I Am a Pretender

I Am a Pretender

A Poem by Laura Ex

Quiet love
Whisper slowly
Your paper smile
Will fall apart form tears
If you asked me
I would get around it
Don’t make me hate
I’m begging
The mirror of the inside
Reveals my lies
The happy-coated outside
Shows I try
But it’s not enough
I’m on the brink
Life isn’t worth it
Think what you think
My mind won’t change
I’m dreading waking up
Dream, dream away
Pretend I’m not who I am
That only goes so far
And then I’ll break
