Dear Lying Under Stars

Dear Lying Under Stars

A Poem by Laura Ex

I can feel the blade on my wrist
I can feel you hand on my fingertips
I didn’t know how far you’d take it
But you made it
Congratulations
You no longer have to
Deal with this
Living life a lie
You no longer
Have to pretend
It’s alright
And now you’re lying there
No longer dead or awake
Just lying there
At least there’s no more pain
Because the numbness is over
The hurt is not there
Your heart isn’t pumping
Empty soundless meaningless life
Say goodbye
Say goodbye
I won’t cry, I won’t cry
I’ll see you soon
They brought flowers
Your favorite kind
I just though you should know
That when I die
I want those same flowers
And though I know
I won’t be getting such a special service
No one’s left
For me
Because you are my life
And the light is out
I’m coming; soon
My hopes, once low
Are now so high
I have a goal
I’ll get tonight
See you soon
Goodbye and love,
The only friend
