Dark Green Longing

Dark Green Longing

A Poem by Laura Ex

The window, pulled open
Blew breeze on her face
How she longed to be free
And away from this place
Be careful what you wish for-
That’s what they say
One day you might just get it,
In a different way
A few nights went by
And so did a tear or two
Now she finally had a chance
To do what she wanted to
The door left open
With no one in sight
She ran straight outside
Avoiding another fight
The wind blew loud
And the dark turned cold
She opened her wrong eyes
And knew she was alone
Once more she longs
For what she does not have
Just like before,
But now she wants home back.
