Moonlight Shed on Old Promises

Moonlight Shed on Old Promises

A Poem by New Age Love
"

promises are fickle things. fleeting moments of commitment but many times not understood. A broken promise may not always be broken.

"

What do you do when you have a broken heart?

Feelings, emotions, thoughts keep stirring

A momentary lapse of lovers grown apart

The moonlight cuts like a knife through the dark.

Conversations once had linger as a distant memory.

Promises once made start to fade

“I'll always be there” starts to torture me

My soul erupts with a desire for sanity.

With love there is no room for such vanity.

The moon beams enter a room kept dark

Matching the feeling of these new idle thoughts.

Promises were not necessarily broken, yet cannot be called kept.

The words stumble out of my mind from its depths.

My shaky voice manages a strong whisper:

“I understand and I forgive her”

The complex heart of a stargazing dreamer,

feelings and promises that once fueled her.

A curious wanderlust for magic and adventure

The moonlight keeps her promises for her.

No one has been slighted, and hope seems more than a sliver.

The moonlight has an energy that feels I will always be with her.

This is stunningly, beautifully heartbreaking.

'“I understand and I forgive her”
The complex heart of a stargazing dreamer,
feelings and promises that once fueled her.'

As well as

'With love there is no room for such vanity.'

Calls to mind the seemingly universal thought process of growing stronger.

Fondly,
Arriam

These two phrases jumped out at me. The first one:
"The moon beams into a room kept dark"
It's just a suggestion, but I think I would change the word 'into' to'enter'.
Sounds a bit sexual, don't you think?
The other was:
"A curious wanderlust for magic and adventure"
No problems there. It's a beautiful turn of phrase.
Welcome,New Age Love. Hope you'll be happy here and stay with us.
