Chapter three

Dreams

I saw those green eyes again and his pinkish lips were moving, saying words I cannot hear.

“I cannot hear you!” I whispered. Then a white light grew behind him, brightening his curly hair and made his skinned glisten before the light completely consumed him and faded from my sight, I was left standing there alone with my hand in mid-air; reaching. “Stefanie can you hear me?” A faint voice echoed. I thought I was dreaming but then my eyes opened and another blurry face hovered over me.

“Where am I?” I croaked.

“You passed out!” This voice stressed. My eyes opened and closed once more as my vision was blurred. I raised myself gently and a warm arm rested over my shoulders. I looked at the tiny hand and followed it, turning my head with caution to the right of me.

“Hey!” It was mum. Then all of a sudden my head had begun to thud as if someone hit me with a baseball bat. “Ouch!” I groaned. “Where is Jazz and Kane? What happened?” I asked rubbing my forehead.

“They're at home Stef, do you not remember what happened?”

“No, what am I doing in the garden?” I frowned and looked around.  I realized there were no pumpkins that mum had put out for Halloween and it was daylight. No toilet rolls in the tree, which my little brother Seth decorated every year.

“You were helping me with the gardening and I noticed you weren’t yourself but I didn’t think much of it, I thought you were having one of your off days; till you stood up and turned towards the sky and collapsed right in front of me.” Mum said full of worry. She rested her head against mine. “Before you collapsed, you said ‘help me’ over and over,” Her voice begun to crack and knew instantly she were on the verge of tears.

“I don’t remember Mum. I thought I was with my friends and it was Halloween. It is Halloween right?” I asked. Mum lifted her head and the tears left trails across her face, as I wiped them away colour left my Mums cheeks. “It is not Halloween,” She said. I shook my head slowly because I couldn’t understand what had happened.

“Did you not see the huge Metroid?” I said as I stood up. I walked towards the garden gate and left mum sitting there. “Where are you going?” She called. I waved at her for her to follow me.

“That’s where the Metroid landed,” I pointed towards the end of the street.

“Love, I did not see any Metroid or any form off rock fall.” She passed a concerned glance. “You must have hit your head, its best we go inside so you can rest.” She said. Mum turned me to face her and took both my hands into hers.

“It just seemed so real and I saw someone, a man.” I said. I felt Mum tense and let go of my hands and folded them tightly into her arms. I saw this reaction coming, my mum has had her fair share of men as my brother and I have different dads. Seth still sees’ his dad but mine, I rather he’d rot in hell. He is a nasty human being, did things that are unimaginable to others. From time to time I still live the nightmares.

“Who was this man?” she asked.

“I do not know but it doesn’t matter. It was a dream,” I said. But was it though? I thought.
