A quick breakdown of the show, character and places.

Synopsis

Freight Train is a show that is set to engage a person’s curiosity. What happens after we die?  There are plenty of
theories and maybe even some of the details from those theories have some truth to it.  Have you ever wondered what would have become of Aristotle, Leonardo Da Vinci or Alexander The Great if they had been able to continue to live their lives?

Do you dream of life on other planets? Do you wish you could explore the universe?  Freight Train is a story about what if.

What if this life we are living is just the beginning to something much more fantastic?

You are invited to join Tyler into his journey that takes him beyond this life and into a whole new adventure.  He will team up with different historical figures that don’t always come off as they do in the history books.

You are also invited to join Lexie as her journey quite literally will usher in a new age for everyone on earth.  With her crazy inventions she finds herself closer to the truth of what happens after we die. Tyler and Lexie’s journey are connected.

Tyler works for an agency known as The Ministry. It is a joint operation between humans and Celestians. Celestians are a race made up entirely of consciousness.  They are not strangers to the corporeal world as they are known to us as Angels. Tyler finds out that some things humans got right but everything else is wrong.  Because of the way human beliefs developed (due to the interference of the Celestians); when people die they often become destructive because their beliefs didn’t prepare them for the next stage of life. So they created the Freight Train that houses the souls from Earth.

They are put into pocket realities where they are shown the truth about the universe overtime. As they become more accepting of this truth their world starts to change until they are ready to move on.

Tyler was killed because he had a Purpose Destiny.  A stray known as Oswald Croll was responsible for sending the stray that killed Tyler. Oz is not a regular stray; he is more powerful and emits radiation. He was obsessed with attaining energy faster than he was because he wanted to evolve into a Paragon.  Overtime it appears that he has gone insane and is trying to destroy the earth or could he be working for someone else?

Tyler will gain a partner, a man named Beau who was partly responsible for saving Tyler’s soul from becoming a Stray’s battery pack. This looks like a junkie fixing to get high. Beau and Tyler will investigate Oz and try to figure out his plan before it’s too late.  They will also have to find a way to protect Cadence who has taken over Tyler’s P.D. In order to do this they will have to have some help from someone still corporeal.  This is where Lexie comes into play.

Lexie loves the unknown, she doesn’t scare easily nor does she back down from a challenge.  She rebuilt and old CB radio using some modifications left in her father’s notebook. These modifications allow her to interact with Tyler.

Every week we will join Tyler and Lexie as they both learn that nothing in the universe is as it seems.

Format

Sci-Fi Fantasy Adventure Drama Series

The show is really about two points of view, one is Tyler and the other is Lexie.  The show starts in the middle of a paradigm shift the human race is going through.  As Tyler is exploring this after life, Lexie is in the beginning stages of bridging that gap between the corporeal and non corporeal world.

This discovery shows the human race that they are not alone and really opens the door to new species in the universe that they could come into contact with. I don’t want to limit this show to Earth and the current set of characters. These characters are important to the story but the universe is vast and at some point new races and places should start working their way into it.

Tyler and Cadence will never come face to face. In the beginning his drive is to somehow get back to her but will start to move on when she does near the end of the first season.

Magic is a short cut to do things we have not yet reached scientifically but the magic should never be so powerful that we can fix every problem with it.  Magic is a tool not a solution to a problem and that includes magi-tech, eventually magic won’t be a word we use on the show. Once the universe opens up with the introductions of aliens, we can start to use new science-ie techie kind of words (like science-ie).

This show should focus on the human aspect.  We don’t want to cover up things like human violence, ignorance and the struggle to accept change. These things are a part of life and should be in these stories but they never use violence to solve violence... well almost never.

Non Corporeal Rules:  When they do anything they are exerting energy just as we do but as they get weaker the less they are able to hold their form. This makes them susceptible to harm, another being could absorb them and use them as a source to replenish their own energy.  Strays are known to do this to each other.  Nothing in the universe can be completely destroyed, there is always some kind of information there and it can be built up again and taken down but never fully gone.

Season 1: The first few episodes will be dedicated to the introduction of the series.  Every character we see will have a back story that we will explore as the show progresses.  I have developed certain character back stories in another document

Location: Set in Vancouver, BC

Characters

Tyler Johnson " While it seems Tyler has no respect for authority, he has deep compassion for his fellow humans just not the people who abuse their power.  He is very creative and somewhat of a geek.  He can be a bit of a kid at times which drives the people around him crazy but he also has moments where he demonstrates great wisdom and compassion.

Lexie Biel " A spunky techno-dweeb who has a fascination with all things unknown.  She is an inventor who creates things that don’t seem to serve any real purpose. She knows how to play “cute” to get what she wants.

Beau LaFayette " He is a black man who lived in the South during the early 1900’s.  He is very much a gentleman and somewhat of a word smith.  He has a bit of a dark side to him which makes him come off as a little mysterious.

Train Conductor " He was once the philosopher Aristotle. He is very much a different man then the one history records. He chooses to be the caretaker of the train for reasons only known to him and Michael.  He is referred to by some as “Ari”.

Thomas Ferguson " He is Scottish/Canadian and a Private Investigator.  He is a quiet man, very observant and quite dashing but totally unaware of it. He is close to Lexie.

Michael "He is in charge of running “The Ministry”. *he is based on the Arch Angel Michael

Cadence Campbell " She has a soft spot for people with disabilities as her brother is autistic.  She is very passionate about educating people and who is strong in her beliefs. She takes on Tyler’s purpose destiny which she struggles with at first but learns quite fast how to own it. (she is only meant to be a main character for the first season, after it will only be guest appearances)

Connor Campbell " Cadence’s little brother who is a high functioning autistic. He doesn’t talk often and is fascinated
with technology.

Supporting/Reoccurring Characters

Glenda Cousins " an older woman who Lexie works for and owns the Metaphysical Shop. (Dies at the end of Season 1, could make guest appearances in future episodes)

Sage Cousins " She is Glenda’s niece who is troubled and into the dark arts. (Could become a series regular)

Xander " Was once Alexander “The Great” and former partner of Beau.

Carmen " She is a sexy spunky southern woman who is Michael’s secretary. She used to be a talented thief when she was alive.

Cyrus " He is a “Paragon” (later we find out he is a Dark Paragon) who created “The Order”. He also watches over Lexie’s family until one day out of the blue he goes missing.

Oswald “Oz” Croll " An alchemist from the late 16th century who is a “stray” that somehow emits radiation. He is a reoccurring baddie.

Ashka " She is a dark walker who is part of the Order and is investigating Cyrus’s disappearance.

Bill Chambers " Was best friend to Lexie’s father. He is more aware of what’s going on in the universe then he lets on.

Richard (aka Dicky) & Terry Ferguson " Tom’s younger twin brothers who work for the police. Dicky works for the RCMP and Terry for the VPD. They are very competitive with each other.

Bill is their older brother who could make appearances as well as their father William.

Other characters I want to bring on once in a while are:

Leonardo Da Vinci

Gene Roddenberry (Younger version)

Guy Fawkes

Jules Verne

Issac Asimov

Arthur C. Clarke (Younger Version)

The 11th Doctor from Doctor Who.  I have a whole future episode planned (and partially written) and it brings the Doctor in by using the Mechtoform.

Places of Interest

The Ministry - The Ministry strictly deals in protecting worlds from non corporeal interference and they don’t get involved with corporeal matters.  This place houses the headquarters for the Walkers and it can also be used a way to visit other factions of the Ministry throughout the universe.

The Order HQ - the Order has an Asian Zen style to it but in a dark and beautiful way.   The Ministry represents the positive energy in the universe and the Order represents the Negative.  They conceal their existence for fear of being oppressed by the Ministry because of their ignorance towards negative energy.

The Metaphysical Shop - It’s a typical Metaphysical shop with crystals, incense, magic items, herbs and books. She has a little section of the store that houses Lexie’s area, The Science of the Paranormal! The store has a small warehouse
attached to it where Lexie build’s all her machines.  There are old wooden barn like doors that open up to the back alley.

The Freight Train " it is capable of changing its layout, sometimes it looks like a passenger train and other times it looks like a freight train.  The Engine room will stay the same all the time and the Conductor is the only one who seems to be able to control the train’s transformations.  The train does have a mind of its own though. It houses all the souls of earth that have passed on.

Tom’s Office - It’s a small office in a strip mall. He doesn’t make a lot of money so it’s pretty bare in his office.

The Alternate Universe - is a dark universe where Light is feared and the Darkness is embraced.  The Sky is purple and the sun looks more like a black light.  Neon lights play a big part of the architecture and while some places are recognizable like the Gas Town steam clock, that doesn’t mean the surrounding buildings are the same.  They don’t have shadows but a light equivalent of a shadow.

The Embassy " this is a place where corporeal and non corporeal beings work together.  It is located out in what they call the center of the universe.

Terminology

Purpose Destiny " “P.D.”, this is a term used to describe people whose destiny will have a direct impact on the evolution of the human race.

Angel Tear " A crystalline looking energy source that Walker’s use to capture stray’s and purge the negative energy that infects them.

Astral Abilities " all non corporeal beings have different abilities i.e./Astral Projecting and Astral Travel

Free Willed Death " aka “Type A” Although free willed may sound like it implies suicide this is not the case.  Because man has free will there are times in a person’s life where they may not make the best decisions in their life thus their purpose destinies elude them and are passed on to a someone close to them.

Type B - is just the term used for people with P.D.’s who are taken before their intended death.  This could either be caused by an accident in life or due to a “Stray” who has interfered and taken their soul.

Magic " A useful tool to use when Science can only take us so far.

Stray - Strays use to be Walkers but over time they built up a lot of negative energy and go mad. Strays appear in the corporeal world as shadows. Their physical appearance is often darker in comparison to Walkers.   Strays can overcome their madness but only through The Order.

The Order - was created by Leonardo Da Vinci and Cyrus to prove that negative energy infections were not as bad the Celestians believe.

Infections " when a soul has taken on too much negative energy it starts to show on their skin with dark veins and their eyes tend to have a darker glow to them.  Souls are not really infected as they tend to believe, it just how they change.  One of the key things about this show is I want people to open their minds to new possibilities. Dark does not necessarily mean evil as light doesn’t necessarily mean good.

Magi-Tech - Pieces of technology that really serve no purpose in practical application, however when magic is brought into the equation it changes its purpose.

Paragon " when a walker has accumulated enough positive energy they evolve into a Paragon which are just powerful as the Celestians.

Dark Paragon - These guys are the paragon’s counterparts. They are not evil; they are enlightened souls who have harnessed negative energy rather than positive. They are also able to travel in the shadows which are really portals to the alternate universe.

Celestians - are a race completely made of consciousness. On Earth they are known as Angels.  As non-corporeal beings they are able to manifest themselves in the minds of corporeal beings through dreams.

The Neolithic Shard - It was first discovered in Africa in the Stone Age by the Celestians and sealed away in a vault made up of zero balance dwarf star alloy. There were a handful of drawings in caves found later by archeologists depicting the crystal which sparked numerous theories and debate on what it is.  It was later dubbed the Neolithic Shard by humans and that became its name.  It was the only one thought to have existed up until the discovery of the Dark Paragons.

Mechtoform " Non corporeal beings are capable of inhabiting the Mechtoform. The downside to it is that it channels creative energy which means when a non corporeal being enters it cannot use its own form. It must literally use the power of imagination to run the Mechtoform. (Later versions do not have to follow that rule and if an alien race has the same kind of technology we just assume they got beyond that little hiccup)

Neural Interface " this is how non corporeal beings can interface with corporeal technology.

Evolution " Non corporeal beings change over time. As they are not restricted to one physical form they can evolve into whatever their imaginations can conceive.  This can change the look of them completely or subtly over time.
