The Betrayers

The Betrayers

A Poem by William Wolfshead

The Shadows Surround

I do not fear

The feeling of home is what draws near

The screams in the night

The blaze of the heat

The coldness of steel

Is what I keep

The whispers grow closer

I await in the dark

Before me they stand

My trusted betrayers will soon depart

Plans that have plotted shall not bear fruit

My blade has befriended the life that bears root

Their souls go to render onto the Summerland shores

Shall not meet their peace

They are my rewarded feast

Good Night
