Towel in the Closet

Towel in the Closet

A Poem by Harley (arbiter)
"

how we lose good friendships/relationships

"
We used to be so close
You'd hang with me more than most

But now things have changed
Your friends list rearranged

I used to be on top of it
Now I'm just a Towel in the Closet

I was your shoulder to cry on
You used to miss me when I was gone

All your other "friends" came back
And you remembered how I lack

You hang with them now
I'm not even a pal

Even though none of them cared
I remember the secrets that we shared

Remember who was there
Who you didn't want out of your hair

We had a good bond, you and me
But now it's gone completely

I wish we still had it
But now I'm just a Towel in the Closet

Author's Note

Harley (arbiter)
this poem is from personal experience. i was a best friend, the only one that would even talk to her during the summer and we were closer than siblings, but when school started again and all her other friends, who dont care as much probably, are hanging with her again I'm just a towel in the closet. it can also be for a different situation i guess and it was kinda like a controlled vent. like it?

A depressing thought... I've gone through the same thing... and it isn't pretty...

I have been through something like this and it really sucks and I am still going through it every day so great job expressing how you feel about it and if u havent maybe u should show this to your friend and they will see how they hurt you.

I can relate ALL of this, me and my best friend broke our friendship... But really my friend did by making the worst choice in the world. Getting a tattoo? Trying to put a blame on your friend? Lying to your mother? Calling me a snitch? Those are all the questions I want to ask my friend... At least... she used to be...

Well, amazing poetry Harley, this is sad yet amazing.
Wonderful work!
Thanks for sharing!

yeah, I know how you feel. Same with my old friend Haley, now that we both have a new set of friends, a new set of people... its odd. We never hang out anymore.

Thanks
That sucks, to know someone so well as if they were your life and they might have been. But then there seems to a void and soon enoough its like they are a whole different person. I am so sorry, but it leastyou made it into a great poem. Ok that was not very positive, well this experience can make you stroonger. Now that was alot more postive, anyway the poem rhymed perfectly and i loved how u said "Even though none of them cared
I remember the secrets that we shared" it was perfect. :D

waa sad
I really liked this poem & I really relate to this, a lot. Especially when I was in middle school, it seemed like there was a stage of going thru so many friends and old friendships just ending because they found new people. It's a crazy time and transition in life. When I started college at 18, the first few weeks were crazy because you start to meet so many new people and you make many friends but soon you make your "circle of friends."
You're pretty mature for your age. I wrote similar poems when I was around 14. Writing is definitely a good way to vent, hopefully you carry it with you for a long time.
