Everyone left the partyA Poem by graceyet no one stayed to clean the mess
I am walking alone,
Christmas lights on the road. And i know, I am the type of girl that comes with many, but goes home alone. City lights burning me, unfunny memories, and i choke, I coast down the streets looking for somebody i dont know. "Oh no, what a sad ending," "Oh no, never expected u'll break," "Oh no," is what they say to me, as i wander in the empty lane. Why am i still holding on, to something that's long flown. Why am I still bidding on, for something that has lost its cost. now i sit reminiscing, just me, small town cafe on a New Year's Eve, 'cause there's no table for one at dinner parties, or fancy hotels where i could be. Unused candles at every table, flickering lights, dusty chairs, oh, i hear noises through a broken window, countdown has just begun, and i choke, a drop of tear and its new year. "Oh no, what a sad ending," "Oh no, just a chapter is what u'll ever be," "Oh no," is what they say to me, as i cry myself to sleep. why do i try to hold the sand, when it just slips right through my hands. why i am trying to touch the light, when it just burns me so bright. "Oh no, what a sad ending," "Oh no," they say. © 2023 graceAuthor's Note
