The Decision - A Sequel To "The Unknown"

So your decision is made

And I’m here once again

With my heart on my bloodied sleeve.

Hoping and willing you never to leave.

But your decision is made

And I have to obey

As it kills me inside

And causes divide

From the things in life that we need to survive.

Anger and pain are here once again.

Dressed up in disappointed hopes.

Unspoken promises

Of the life we would live.

Whilst words of compassion you still leave.

You told me you loved me

And wanted to be

A husband completely devoted to me!

I trusted your words of love and of truth.

But how can you now be so blind and obtuse?!

Did you love me at all?

Were your words just all common lies?

Or is it your family that choose to divide?

I don’t know the truth.

I don’t believe that I will.

But again it is clear

I’m not that dear…’dear’.

 

What is it about me that isn’t enough?

Gee, this life is becoming quite tough!

Once again I am a fool and blind.

For giving my heart to the heart-breaking kind.

I hate you, yet love you. And feel it’s the same.

In this stupid, pathetic, childish game

We call love.

a sad theme to this one!! I really like the second/last stanza in particular it reads very powerfully!! a great write and well constructed!!

A very sad tone and I could feel the disappointment in your words. When people change and we are not important. Leave us wondering what happen? I like how you try to figure out the reasons for the wall of separation. I believe people today want too much. Old wise saying. Grass isn't always greener in the next yard. It is where you are standing. I like the ending. A excellent poem.
