In The Light Of Day

In The Light Of Day

A Poem by underwriter

When days are grey and lonesome,

And find it hard to speak,

I look towards and outlet

For my words to there bequeath.

My heart and soul upon the page,

As I fill it with my rage,

Reams of paper scatter

And fill the dim lit floor,

As if it did not matter,

That I was trying to find a cure.

But as the sun arises,

On my blackened, constricted heart,

I sit with fingers drumming, trying to find a start.

The revelation surprises,

As I reach across the table

And hold the hand of the best friend

Who to my services they do lend.

I look down t’ward the quill of power,

That allows me to devour

Words of rhythm and rhyme,

That shall stand forever in time,

Like a tall looming statue,

Towering, watching, haunting you.

Yet in the light of day,

Those thoughts stay far away,

A life can live so joyous,

And joy in return, reassures us.
