Artificial Happiness

Artificial Happiness

A Poem by Victoria Nakis

Faking smiles left and right,
Little by Little losing the fight.
Ignoring the pain trying to be okay;
Slowly starting to slip away,
Straight into the darkness that waits
Holding its breath, waiting to claim fates.
Fighting as hard as possible against the impending doom,
Waiting for new hope to blossom and bloom
To give new strength to a broken soul.
But the war has taken its terrible toll,
Only able for a last single battle to be fought.
Everything fading, everything starting to rot;
The battle lost as well as the war.
Now accepting defeat, accepting what fate the darkness has in store.

The title doesn't really the match the poem I realize. Oh well.

Artificial happiness fits this piece pretty well based on the opening line, "Faking smiles left and right"
I can feel the emotions in this piece as the sadness and emptiness are evident.

Very nice

About
My name is Victoria. I've lost touch with writing lately, but it's always been a passion. It's my favorite outlet when the feelings I have can't be contained. I'm not particularly good at poetry.. more..
