A Chapter by Calypso

I wanted to write this down, but I knew if I did and tore out the page Dr. Small might become suspicious.

Dad knew we were going to be late but he still stopped by Red Lobster. I wondered where his sudden generosity came from, but I didn’t ask.

I’m very sure he spent $100 on our meal. We ate lobster with butter, a baked potato, a salad, cheddar biscuits, and brownies. I could remember Dad and Mom going out to Red Lobster all the time. Until Morana and I were older a lady from church always baby-sat us.

Dad was more then happy to order the most expensive group meal on the menu. We snacked on the biscuits until the waitress came out and told us that there was a issue with the lobster. Dad said it was okay and the waitress looked relieve that we didn’t yell at her.

“Dad I think I will go outside for a minute. Is that okay?”

His thought for a second, “Why?”

            “Cause I want to.”

“Go ahead. I’ll let you know when the food comes.”

I stepped out side and my breath was taken.

I know for sure I saw Roman sitting on a bench.

“Roman,” I feebly said coming near to him.

His head quickly snapped to me. His eyes looked glazed over by some emotion.

            “Where were you Wednesday?”

“I was afraid of getting in trouble so I didn’t… come out.” I looked down at my shoes “I’m so sorry Roman.”

His mood seemed to change “So did they heal you?” He said this as if it was from an inside joke.

Roman crushed his cigarette under his boot. “I’m sure they believe they did.”

“I didn’t graduate. I went home for the weekends.”

Since I had last saw Roman he has grown a small mustache. On most people it looked weird, but on him it made him look even better.

            “Can I kiss you?’

Roman sighed, “Is this your way for making up?”

I blushed a deep red “Maybe.” I opened my mouth to say something but Roman beat me to the punch. In a rush to kiss me he knocked right into my mouth.

“Aww” I whined not meaning to.

“Sorry, sorry.” He placed his finger on his lip and saw blood.

Dad stepped outside and waved for me.
"I'll see you Wednesday." I whispered before leaving.

Hm. Weird. I decided I don't like Roman, but I feel bad for what he's going through at home. I found this chapter a bit confusing though. Their conversation anyway...

An unexpected encounter. I thought she wanted to go out to throw up.
