What Growing Up Takes

What Growing Up Takes

A Poem by unclecharlie

Today we are stuck in a warp of time

When we were young and all seemed find

About Family and even the close Friends there wasn't much thinking

We were about work , girls , Parties and drinking

Not giving a thought to the future and where it may lead

Or that maybe some of our time others may need

Then as we aged and those things matter less and less

Why we did them we couldn't even have guessed

Maybe it was the years of our real learning

Chasing the things for which we were burning

But now it all only comes to the chapters in a never ending book

And at the last page we won't get a single look

So now we hope our kids aren't the same way

As they hear the story and lessons that we have to say

But no matter what to educate them we will try

Still loving them more as the days pass us by

And when they make those little or big mistakes

Remember that some of them are what growing up takes!
