All we could do was pretend

All we could do was pretend

A Poem by unclecharlie

Throughout each day we seem to just glide

It always some what the same old ride

Start the car  give the tranny a little jerk

Step on the gas and then off to work

Not around the corner or even on the same block

And way to far for anyone to walk

Each way we think about our problems and whats heavy on our mind

Drive one way to get started the other to unwind

But creatures of habit we all can't help but to be

There's no doubt that anyone could find you or me

From the problems and things that set us back

Do we just surrender or from a  different way do we take a whack

How can we sit back and not even try

Just doing the same things every day till we die

We've come along ways and accumulated what seems like a lot

But once we're dead what have we really got

Instead why not put those things to good use

To get where we want to be and stop finding an excuse

Material thing in life always are easy come and go

But our true dreams are  something that only we can know

So when we're ready to just give up and throw it to the wind

Remember once we had nothing and all we could do was to pretend!
