Self Expression

Self Expression

A Poem by unclecharlie

Self Expression

We think about times that have passed

Fades that for long just didn't last

Tie died shirts and tight fitting jeans

Elephant bells and leisure suits we all have seen

Low cut and skin tight shirts

Cut up high were the mini skirts

Long hair and a full beard

Back in the day that was nothing weird

Now we have hair that's green or blue

And people wondering what next we may do

There's plenty of scooters and skate boards

Yet the old days we try to still hoard

Not understanding the new twist

Or about this generation what we have missed

Instead we judge and complain

Some it just drives us insane

But they are like all the ones before

Just freedom of expression isn't as accepted any more

So before you judge what is new

Think about At that age what did you do?

Was it worse or pretty much the same

Is it our freedoms that we should blame

Or maybe we should just laugh and shake our head

Just being proud that our Freedom is not yet dead!
