The Whole Deal

The Whole Deal

A Poem by unclecharlie

Thank God 2009 has finally passed

There are many that it kicked their a*s

Talks of recession and money was short

No need to believe the Governments report

Just look at the towns as you drive through

Empty building and people with nothing to do

A new leader many would select

But Americans will he protect ?

Incentives for the rich and the few

For the poor what did he do

Around on bills he seems to swarm

Some kind of Health Care Reform

When it's done all will have a choice

But for now do we really have a voice

They seem to drag it all out

Thousands of pages what's that about

On other things the same money they spend

That it wasn't part of this bill they'll pretend

The votes don't they actually buy

We'll give your state more if this you'll try

We work our fingers to the bone

But our pay they won't leave alone

Taxing more each and every year

Wasting our money without any fear

We'd like to know if they've passed some kind of test

How the hell do they know what is best

And about us do they really care

Or do they just want to spend money that isn't there

People with so many questions and thoughts

A Government tied up in knots

Minimum wage they don't raise

Yet on caviar they sit back and graze

Our retirement is slipping away

Yet for their whole lives we have to pay

Why is it we all sit still?

Shouldn't we have a voice in the whole deal?
