Just Slipped Away

Just Slipped Away

A Poem by unclecharlie

We sit down at the desk turn on the light

Open the drawers for something to write

Got a thought spinning round in my head

Need to getting written before it goes dead

Papers spread out pen in my hand

Ran out of ink in the middle of understand

Through the drawers it's now a race

Another pencil or pen there isn't a trace

My God there are five kids that live there

Should be a crayon just about any where

Pacing the house like a lion in  a cage

Got to try and remember this special page

Oh how lucky could I really be

Open the door and box of pens in front of me

Now to relax and calm just bit

Back at the desk I slowly sit

The words I want to write should easily flow

Got everything together I am ready to go

After all of that what can I say

My wonderful thought just slipped away!

Hah, clever! I love the flow of the words. Very traditional, with a nice touch of humor. I love how you compelled me through the flow of the words. Most of the time, I see a lot of writing that's not this smooth. Very good, and thank you for sharing. :)
