Alone but not Free

Alone but not Free

A Poem by unclecharlie

Like a bull she came through the door
A meaner woman I'd never seen before,
With her foot she kicked out the chair
Sat down like she just didn't care
Without a word she was served a beer
On the waitress's face was total fear
When by her corner others walked
In almost silence is how they talked
They say her bed post was notched for each man
And twice for the ones she just couldn't stand
Many knew her back in the day
When she was light hearted and would gently play
They say it all changed over night
After that she just wasn't right
Once she was a Mom and Wife
But she killed that man with a knife
Self defense is what she said
He had another woman in her bed
On the day that he was caught
A brutal beating is what she got
She pulled herself from the floor
Determine she wasn't taking that any more
She put that knife into his chest
I believe we all know the rest
So this is how she carries on
After the love that's now gone
Her sadness is easy to see
She's alone but not free!

There was a line in the middle that sounded a little mixed up but overall I thought it was good. Nice way to tell a story and the rhyming was good as well.
