When the Well Runs Dry

When the Well Runs Dry

A Poem by unclecharlie

What do you do when the well runs dry,
To dig deeper do you try,
Or to another spot do you go,
To see if it will flow,
The first well you came to know and trust,
To try and keep it is a must,
So you dig and you wait,
Hoping for a twist of fate,
You hang on every sound that's heard,
Even saying some encouraging words,
Day after day you continue to try,
But that well is still dry,
Still you don't let yourself get beat down,
As it's the best well you've ever found,
With yourself you'll debate,
But for that well you'll still wait,
You know that well has to wonder,
Just how long and far you'll dig under,
It's got you wondering each day,
Yet for water you still pray,
Then you hear a gurgle of sound,
A bit of water you have found,
A little closer you and the well get,
Together you and that well still fit,
So you'll never just turn and go,
That's the best well you'll ever know!
