Sorted Past

Sorted Past

A Poem by unclecharlie

Dreams of a sorted past,
Shadows on my sanity are cast,
It all seemed so real,
I could hear smell and feel,
Faced that I new,
scenes that were so true,
Memories that I no longer want to keep,
Wake me up from my sleep,
Like a war that was never won,
The way life had begun,
So many years ago,
But a life that I still know,
Not easy to forget,
Even if you no longer fit,
Things that have ended,
But my mind still hasn't mended,
A reoccurring disease,
Take it away would you please,
Let me sleep through the night,
As every day I try and do what's right,
How long must we pay,
For a time we went astray,
God can't you hear,
That I am now in fear,
I can't take another day,
Of life this way,
Please let me feel your hand,
Because I no longer understand,
I have done my best,
Won't you now lay me to rest!
