Societies Choice

Societies Choice

A Poem by unclecharlie

When they say society made the choice,
How many people actually had a voice,
Did they ask me or you,
Or did someone in the White House just decide what to do,
There used to be those that would represent,
What to the average person Freedom really meant,
The people had some sort of say,
But most of that has been taken away,
They sit in an office and a big chair,
Never remembering how they got there,
It's progress so we are told,
Not being accountable is getting really old,
On each issue they debate,
For some answers years we must wait,
They decide what is we should know,
Is that the way Government was made to go,
We put them in office and pay them a lot,
To answer our calls they simply will not,
They made the laws that we've got,
Then cry foul if they are caught,
To complain about the war please don't try,
Next thing you know they will call you a spy,
With enough people to run a small state,
They still want more for bigger debate,
Some never show their face at all,
I was elected no reason to call,
Minimum wage is OK they say,
But yet raise their own pay,
They don't run our country that well,
Yet we are taring other countries to hell,
To me this picture isn't clear,
So if you've got some answers I sure like to hear,
Just what you think they are supposed to do,
They aren't representing but how about you!
