You Would Be Amazed

You would be amazed, If you knew how some kids were raised, They come from a broken home, Many nights they spend alone, One parent isn't there, The other one just doesn't care, They have to be strong, Each day seems way to long, By day it's all good, They go to school like they should, With the others they join in, Now feeling like they can win, Protection they have none, Next thing they get a gun, It's a group or a gang, That depends on your slang, No one wants to give, But they put down the way they live, These kids do survival at it's best, Everyday is a test, They know right from wrong, But in their life most wouldn't last long, People don't think they need a hand, That way of life they don't understand, Lock them up is what they say, It's not right we weren't raised that way, They could be right but probably not, There's not many choices these kids have got, It isn't like they could decide, Which life they wanted to ride, Mom and Dad we could blame, But maybe they grew up the same, So now we all debate, Do we show them love or just hate, Their way of life we don't know, Should we tell them there's a better way to go, Or do we simply lock the door, Where they don't have a chance any more, One of these kids could have been you, What would you have wanted others to do!
