Inside Dad's GarageA Poem by umm.eUnder a table a little boy was visible; playing with his toy car that his daddy brought home from the dollar store. Little peter wonders when his father will come out from the "car room." Little Peter, being 7 now, is very excited to go to his friend's birthday party. However, when his daddy came home from his "grown up stuff" he was told otherwise. Little Peter can now no longer attend the birthday party because it was too immature for his daddy's taste. Mommy would have let me gone to Timmy's party, he sighed. This always happened. Little Peter, now a 12 year old, vacuums the house as he knows his father will be tired. He wasn't all that sad today because he got to speak to his mother. "Mommy has to go now, baby," his mother says reluctantly. He didn't want her to hang up, but he knew his daddy would be home soon. "Bye mommy," was all he managed to choke out. "Don't worry, we'll talk again very soon, okay?" Ding. . . Little Peter is at the age of 15 where he's big enough to handle the intense garage work; his dad told him. "The garage is my life," sighs with joy. Standing together, they gaze around the room. His dad sees his everything, but Peter? Peter just sees an old table with dusty, old tools. Little Peter, who was not so little anymore, is a 17 year old boy. He's excited for his graduation in April. "Son, I can't wait for you to become an engineer like your old man." All peter could do was smile and nod; he doesn't want to make his father angry. Little Peter, now a big Peter as he is a 24 year old man, was sitting on the hot sand with his fiancé. As he sat, he pondered of what his mother is up to these days. Peter hasn't heard from his mom after his father found out about the secret calls. Peter realized at that moment that life wasn't all that bad as he had expected it to be. It's not at all like the inside of his fathers garage. © 2018 umm.e |
