Save The Last Word For Me

Save The Last Word For Me

A Poem by KeelyJane

Like a two steppin' tongue tango
Our 'I love you's' danced
Words can find rhythm
When hearts are less advanced

I love how short and simple this appears, and yet behind every line is a deeper meaning. The dance metaphor is beautifully crafted throughout the poem. I love the play on "Save the last dance for me" as you use it -- "Save the last word for me" well done!

Very cool KJ. I like this. Beauifully penned, the desire is evident.

there's so much sacredness in "i love you" i would not want to say it immediately to someone as it might become just a habit and would lose its meaning. this is just a thought that came to mind after reading this short and interesting piece.

I love this, it reminds of a haiku - lots of meaning in few words.

i love this short style with each word chosen so deliberately! i adore the first line with that extended alliteration that just rolls off the tongue...just like a tango! love this.

Nice short flowing piece with so many interpretations. On the one hand it could be early stages of a relationship when people say what they feel obliged to but the chemistry has not kicked in. Alternatively I see a hollow relationship where things are simply said but not sincere?

Interesting idea...the last line especially. I see this metaphorically, and on one hand I can see tragedy and on the other I see beauty and love. Interesting contrast and juxtaposition. Nicely done.
