All Over Again

All Over Again

A Poem by KeelyJane

I want you to feel my pain
The pain you inflicted
Every time you didn't call or care to let me know
That you had offered me a love you didn't intend to show
and that nights would be lonely
because your true one and only
was out of my hands,
cruel to my heart,
free from my arms,
and tearing me apart.
It was your needs you tended
and mine you disregarded, and me you offended
each time I sat home and pretended
that everything was splendid
and going just as intended
and when leaving you was recommended
I took those words and I blended
every truth into denial until the day that it ended.
Now here I am again
and when I reach for your hand
I will hold your neglect,
I will embrace disrespect,
wrap my emotions around you and protect
the cause to this affect
even though I know what to expect,
All over again

This is a classic! It describes the unrequoited love that often abounds in relationships where one can let oneself become a doormat for the one we love even tough we see nothing but pain in the same. An exercise in futility perhaps eased a little by poetic exorcising.
Well written indeed KJ!

Hi Keely I liked the sad disappointment in this piece. I was a little confused at the rhyming scheme.

A seasaw of mixed emotions here. A fine write. I loved how you've shedded light on this substantially emotional subject. Nice work. :)

That you had offered me a love you didn't intend to show

I think most guys have been guilty of failing to show their feelings. this line you posed is good and placing myself on the receiving end to analyze the poem it hit me like a slap in the face. words to take the wind out of you when you know you have realize you have hurt someone you love. strong words and powerful imagery. even though pain is hard to hide sometimes it isn't always so easy to express so you did well with this.

Seems we never wise up to selfish lovers, we keep repeating our mistakes in relationships, silly women we are. Those last seven lines are killer. Not crazy about all the 'ed' rhyming but the flavor of this piece still came through.

Amazing imagery--I've had the misfortune of having been in this relationship. It was give and take--I gave. he took. I'm in a much better place now with someone who truly loves and respects me.

i get the feel sometimes that the male-female relationship thing is in complete chaos, overwhelmed by
some invasive renitency or resistance. and yet the reason why we have so much of this to write about
is because we've lived it and it has lived in our house. Our bedrooms. In our hours sitting at home
pretending. I like the assonance which I am never offended by.
your amazing.
