For My Sister

For My Sister

A Poem by KeelyJane

There is only so much I can say
My words only have so much weight
There comes a point when 'I'm sorry'
Is just an apology too late

I've apologized a hundred times
They've all meant nothing in the end
Because I repeatedly made the same mistakes
Over and over again

You've done no wrong
You only called a spade a spade
I don't expect these words I write
To right the wrongs I've made

You've always been better at being
An example should be made out of you
On how to be the best sister
When your sisters not the best for you

I've done my share of doing dirty
To deserve all the pain I get
But of all the people I have hurt
Its hurting my family I most regret

I love and miss you sister!
Always

This is excellently written and expressed KJ. I have a same sex sibling myself and have in the past, "done dirty" as you put it. I only hope I can express my regret and appreciation as clearly as you have with this piece so that, I can ease any suffering I have caused to my own family. Cheers! I hope you one day get through.

Accepting the the fact that you're the guilty party and admitting to yourself that you've caused pain to your family is a major step in righting the wrongs you have done! The next step is to confront the family members that you can (esp. your sister) and ask their forgiveness for all that you have done or did not do and accept what ever limitations of trust they are willing to give you until you can earn their respect again if ever. Great write KeelyJane

This is a lovely write, Keely - I think you've written it really well, you've done a splendid job on it. I'm sure you've been a great sister and whatever happened is in the past. You're family and no matter what you'll always love each other. This is lovely.

Touching verses and a good approach for a sister. As it says, you have the same DNA with your sister that runs into you veins and arteries, with that blood it flows to your heart, it will touch her heart too.

Heartbreaking... Still, there is a beauty here in the bittersweet symphony of the lines and the apology itself. You are calling attention to your own faults, which is pure bravery, and at the same time honoring your sister, which is the utmost of divine gestures. This is well written...so well written...

After my ole man passed, I must admit dedications arent my thing anymore. I am sorry if I missed the point. Just being honest.

It's when we grow up that we realize what our siblings have given us... A nice tribute piece, and one I hope you can share with her.

(Odd coincidence: March 11, the day you posted this, is my sister's birthday...)
