Welcome Winter

Welcome Winter

A Poem by KeelyJane

Saturated and full

Dark, heavy and low

A lingering storm cloud

Promising snow to the below

Leaves fall into dance

As they descend from their trees

To the rhythm of the wind

Of cold and crisp degrees

Summers blossoms

Prepare for rest

Beneath the blanket

Of winters guest

The cycle of the seasons

The time has come again

Make way for new things

Let the transition begin

Winter is upon us

A time to heal and repair

Reseed and regrow

Spring blessings to share

Such a friendly look at winter. Not much left of the feeling now though. But that last line makes me wonder. Is spring actually a blessing? I mean, we only get back what we've lost? Was there something in your poem to trigger that? I don't know. I love all the attention winter got and rightly so for that is what the poem is about, but to merely mention spring with it so near...? Was that intentional? It works. And, that's what counts. Good job.

In the second line of the second stanza I would completely eliminate "from their trees", I think it adds unnecessary length to the line.

A beautiful description of Winter. Reasons for cold days. Allowed the ground to heal. Thank you for the excellent poetry.

A lovely write with a cool nip, that makes me feel like curling up with a warm cup of coco by the fireplace. Very nice KeelyJane

This one truly speaks to me...it's always been my most prolific season creatively and I'm sure it has to do with the celestial elements, which you've captured beautifully here :)

A nice tribute to winter, when so much is said of spring. Winter has a beauty and a purpose all its own, and you have captured these beautifully. Well done.
