Cliche'

Cliche'

A Poem by KeelyJane

A penny for your thoughts

To share is to care

Speak your mind

Not many minds are rare

I am only me

Not one to compare

But judging by your cover

There is change that you could spare

It takes one to know one

By my book that seems fair

Read between the lines

And you'll be very well aware

The grass may be greener

But I don't give a care

After all is said and done

Its neither here nor there

What goes around comes around

And if what they say is true

If I get what I give

I should be getting through to you

Without an artist to blend and mold them, many of these cliche's would be merely the movement of hot air without true thought or action. My favorite quote is one of Ghandhi's "You must be the change you want to see in the world"...I do try very much to honor those words with thought and action---with thoughtful action.

I heard them all. Maybe too often. "A penny saved. Is a penny earned." Thank you reminder of words I may use too often.

You have given and it is only fair that you receive. Two heads are better than one head and my head says 'I like this poem'. I threw some salt over my shoulder and rubbed two coins together for luck and then read your delightful poem again!

I see this in a philosophical light, Buddhism, Hindi, and Apache all on one

Great comment, but I have to admit that it is kind of sad when 'cliche'd' terms that describe things so well, have the ability to turn a reader off. I'm all for originality and creativity, but just because everyone has roses in their garden doesn't mean that the roses aren't beautiful or that they shouldn't be there for a garden to be great. Please, don't construe that I didn't like the poem, because I found it very cleverly written and enjoyed it quite a bit.
