Words of Wisdumb

Words of Wisdumb

A Poem by KeelyJane

What I know about, what I've learned

I cannot teach

Experience is an understanding

A place no words could ever reach

I can't give you directions

I can't show you the way

Besides, if you followed my footsteps

You'd go the long way

I can only offer you my advice

Give you my highest recommendations

Be open to possibility

Be prepared for complications

Life is complicated

Yet its rules are simple and few

You're alive until you're dead

Everything in between is up to you

some good advice mingled with some somber and sobering realizations. this is eloquent, yet sharp and jagged as well. i fear you and i have traveled some of the same paths. some go nowhere, others go to the wrong destination ...yet we have to keep up our travels, in spite of all we have encountered. clever write. "life is complicated..yet its rules are simple and few" how fooking confusing is that? well done.

Lines five to eight are great, the spirit of the piece is in those lines...as a whole, it blurs the line between leader and follower...definite food for thought...nicely done.

Another excellent thinkpiece from the Philosopher of the Rockies!
I am reminded of a great post I saw a few years ago, called, "The Dash", where upon contemplating a headstone, noting the year a person was born and the year they died, ruminated on the period in between, in the form of the dash that separated the two numbers.
And how delicious and humble of you to admit that anyone following your path is liable to your same mistakes and pitfalls!
I would change the title: nothing "dumb" about it whatsoever!

Inded your words cary a pound of truth and an entire mountain of common sense. I liked this one.

Ha I've said that a million times...'you're alive until your dead'. Sometimes I'm not sure if I believe that one myself. When I read you it's like sitting down with an old friend over a glass of chilled wine, talking about life, you nail it every time in with classic lines and straight to the point!

"You're alive until you're dead
Everything in between is up to you"
This is the real wisdom. Enjoy the in between. Life is short. Thank you for the excellent poem.

There are no textbooks on life and the many events that accompany. Life is not all sunshine and rainbows. Dead fish go with the flow.

Starting with the title.... WisDUMB..... I like it..... no matter how much experience we have, it seems that it is frustratingly non-transferable. The last two lines are reminiscent of a writing I have a copy of for some years now, that is called The Dash. It is perhaps quite common and you may know of what I speak of, but the Dash is what is between your birth year and your end year.... and what it represents,... kind of what you are saying in this writing. Very thought provoking.
