The Strongest Woman On EarthA Poem by UmaWomen are encouraged to prosper, yet when they do, they are criticized in a way which is beyond human imagination. This poem comes across the different experiences of a woman in the society and life.
She sits alone in pitch dark
The world crashing at her feet, She is let down, crushed and shattered, By everyone she meets. She puts in everything To be someone she is not, She extends a hand for the better, Though her flaw, it's not. She is ever ready to improve, She'll change in every way, She ends up in tears at night, For the ones pushing her away. Her heart lashed with scars, She makes herself forgive, She's not a person who takes, She's the one who gives. Her walls of happiness are broken, By those she doesn't know, Caught up in what others think, She's lost her charming glow. Looking down on her as imperfect, They stabbed her with every flaw, So when she gazed at herself, That was all that she saw. Then one fine day, she realized, It was all in her mind, And with this revelation, Off came the blinds. The more she looked within, Her self hatred reduced, It pained her to see the world, By perfection, that was seduced. Imperfect is real, And people can be insecure, They feel that pushing her down, Is probably the only cure. She tells herself to stand up Though the heart is scarred, She knows that she should fight, In spite of being marred. As she walks out into the world, She is deafened by the screaming, But there's one voice loudest of all, Her voice coming from within. The walls that had stopped her Were the walls of her mind, She steps out into the world, Her identity, she finds. She is here to make a difference, And a difference she will make, She will be her true self, She will no more be fake. It dawned on her why, As a girl, she took birth, To be the Queen of the World, To be the strongest woman on Earth. © 2017 Uma |
