At the sprinklers

At the sprinklers

A Poem by Nassira Merahi

At the sprinklers

They are jumping up and down like a yoyo
The energy emanated so incredible….
Their little feet stepping, splashing, you know
The joy and grin on their faces so amusable.

Suddenly, a seagull sores with the wind,
And their attention gets readjusted.
In its beck, clinched a piece of tamarind
And its majestic glide keeps them captivated.

It doesn’t take too long before change of scenery,
And they discover an army of red ants
Marching, it seems, as an act of bravery,
In the middle of wet T-shirts and pants!

Always wanting more thrill and enjoyment,
They run …spleash, splash and run again.
Before hearing the announcement :
“It’s time to go and catch our train!”
