The Flight of The RavenA Poem by Victoria Preston
As daylight recedes and shadows grow,
Time slows like an aging man. Whispered love still sounds in my ears To torment as only sorrow can. As darkness shifts into every corner, The final light diminishing. With closed eyes I imagine your smile And know that our season is finishing. As blackness looms like a mournful veil Across my wretched heart like fear, I recall the taste of your sweet lips on mine And my cheeks are stung with tears. As a final sigh marks my demise I clutch the wilting flower. And drift away to dream forever Of the Raven's finest hour.
