Valentine's DayA Poem by Victoria Preston
Another Sunday comes around
Quiet reflection and secret smiles. Hidden moments from memories stirred, The tacit knowledge, like a knowing child. Coffee and toast, and papers in bed, The warmth of a blush quickening the heart. Remembrances of dawns long past. Enforced distance can't keep them apart. The brushing of fingertips on her cheek; Eyes half closed, ecstatic sighs. The scent of bodies and the need to embrace, No more tearful, painful goodbyes. Removing clothes, bare flesh is seen Tasting, touching, craving more. The gentleness of love with the abandon of desire The object of her fantasy, the one she adores. In the afterglow of love's sweet joy He holds her close, and turns to say "I love you now, as I always have My darling, happy Valentines Day."
