My Mask

My Mask

A Poem by Bridgett

I walk with conviction,

a purpose.

My mask loosely placed.

The world sees a woman,

determined to reach her destination.

I see a girl, broken and alone.

The cool facade I manage to hold,

dissolves into oblivion

at just the sound of your name.

I'm mending well,

if tears don't count

and memories can't hurt.

Love, though extraordinary,

can tear even the strongest of hearts

to shreds.

It's lovely. This piece could use a little work, but then again, what poem couldn't?

I can relate so well to this. The idea is definitely presented well, and I think it's nice that you were able to convey it in such a short poem. The last line, "Love, though extraordinary, can tear even the strongest heart to shreds." really resonated with me. Good job with this poem! I liked it.
