Why Can't I?

Why Can't I?

A Poem by Bridgett

Why can’t I let go of you?

What is pulling me so hard?

You say what I need to hear at the right time,

Pulling me close to your strong, warm chest,

Reminding me why I love you so,

All the while pushing me away with the coldness of ice,

Taking and taking from me until I cannot handle it anymore.

I am giving you all of me, on my knees, heart in hand,

Begging you to understand.

You ignore my desperate pleas,

knowing I am right there at your feet.

Tear stained face, pale skin, blue lips,

I am dying trying to live for you.

"I am dying trying to live for you."

what an emotional turn of a phrase to bring to an end a wrenching poem that seems all too familiar to me. a wonderful write!
