Falling and Waking

Falling and Waking

A Poem by John P. Eiler
"

Dream.

"
I lay in my bed, waiting for a train to a new universe.
It comes underground, and the ground under me becomes a hole.
I slowly fall down into the train.
Before I know it, I'm in a room.
Then a store.
Then a school.
Only my mind can process what I'm seeing.
I see memories:
My parents,
My friends,
my pets.
Strangely, I cannot tell who's who.
I'm moving farther and closer from them.
Then I seem to be in the best place in the world.
I'm happy.
I see somebody bringing me a great dinner.
Yet just as I'm about to take a bite,
I wake up in my bed.
My tour was over.
It was time to get up.
