Runaway

Runaway

A Poem by uber-bubble
"

about my brother running away from home

"

Bleary eyes and aching bones. Stretch.
He has to be awake, it's Christmas. Run.
Door handle and the start of carpet. Open.
Empty bed and open window. Gone. Again.

Push of feet against the carpet. Walk.
Coated walls and smell of him. His room.
Black metal posters and leather bound books. Deserted.
Money box and sock drawer. Empty.

Steps, the carpet and the sharp hardness. Stairs.
Wafting savour and cold ground. Kitchen.
Creaking voice and twitching fingers. Tell.
Car horns and worried calls. Search.

Fast brake and doors thrown open. Park.
Leave the car and run. Found.
Laughter and lack of remorse. Friends.
Dragging feet and loud complaints. Retrieval.

Yelling, slammed doors and tears. Punishment.
Yawns, chairs and shaking heads. Family.

Violence, no morals or respect. Runaway.

Smiles, long conversations and hugs. Brother.
