The Flying Dutchman

The Flying Dutchman

A Poem by Toddy Zed

last night I dreamt of shipboard punishment

sailors left out on deck for many years   hanging by their arms

dehydration had turned their hair to old ship's rope

woven in a pattern

a lobster's tail    a mermaid's helmet

I can't see what's withered under there
