The Hunted and the HuntersA Chapter by Ricktatorship
When you are hunting you have to be very quiet, and can't make a single sound. Again I have tuned my body to not make noises as loud as they previously were. The same things are necessary for the people who are being hunted. For the ones who are hunted, they need to know how to be quiet and most of all they can not make any mistakes. One small mistake can make the prey of a hunter, the lunch of the hunter.
March 5th, 2013: While we were heading down to the valley, and I was looking at the storm, I noticed a different tinge of color in the clouds. I knew that this could occasionally happen in storms, but for some reason this tinge just fascinated me more than anything. The color was a dark purple and it looked like the purple was getting darker. That was all that I could think about while we were walking towards the ravine. We finally arrived at the part of the hill that we were aiming for. We were looking for a way to get up the hill and try and scout out a position where we could find the prey we were hunting for. A deer. A single deer was the whole reason we would come out here with a loaded gun in the middle of a storm. This may not make sense to other people, and it doesn't make sense to me, but hunting teaches me to survive. "Alright, we are going to go up this by taking the diagonal approach to it," whispered my Uncle to both me and my dad. "Well I guess we are going to get our work out today," said my dad. When we go out on one of these hunts, I'm always quiet. I will only make sound if it is absolutely important. So when my Uncle tells us something I usually just nod and go with what he says. We started to head up the hill, but then it started raining. We obviously knew that we should not climb up the hill if the rain is just going to convert the whole hill into an endless supply of mud. We didn't have a backup plan so, we just continued to go the same route, but more carefully. I had just forgotten about the weird tinge in the clouds that I had just previously noticed. The rain had brought back the image of the clouds into my mind and again I couldn't get my mind off of the color. I kept thinking about these clouds while we were climbing up the muddy hill. It seemed that while we were walking that the rain started to come down harder, making the dirt muddier and faster. Still thinking of the color in the sky, I slipped on the mud that was about up to our ankles now. I was slipping down the hill, while having mud splashed on my face and all over my body, and I could barely see. I could see well enough that I had a chance to see a tree and be able to grab it before I fell more then half way down the hill. My uncle yelled down to me if I was alright, and I had the strength in my lungs to push out a simple yes. I wiped off the mud in my face to see the sky, but now the sky was a darker purple color. Once again I was thinking about what this color of the sky could mean. While I was thinking, the rain washed away the rest of the mud on my face. I took the opportunity of this sight to locate my uncle and dad. I tried to look up but, my neck was in pain also. I must have hit my neck or my head in all of the commotion when I was sliding. Therefore the priority for me was to now pull myself up so I could sit on the other side of the tree that I was hanging on to. I started to pull myself up but then I could begin to feel my hands to slip from the tree. I knew that if I kept pulling myself up, my hands would slip faster. So, I looked below me for a tree to land on. Right below me was a tree that was a on a diagonal stance. I took a leap of fate and let go over the tree. I started to slide further down the hill, but this time I landed on the trunk of a tree. I used the positioning of the tree to lay out my body on the side of the tree. I looked up the hill to see my uncle and dad waving down to me. I waved back and yelled to them, "I'm okay." They gave me a thumbs up and it looked like they started to come down the hill also. My dad was behind my uncle, but then I noticed a figure moving behind my dad. I tried to yell to my dad but I had no air in my lungs left. All I could do was watch as my dad was attacked from behind. That's when I heard my uncle who was at the bottom of the hill, "Jake, behind you!" I saw my dad turn around just in time for the figure to lunge at him. Both, my dad and the figure were rolling down the hill in a big mess. They landed against tree that was only a little bit further than the tree that I was on. I knew that I had to save my dad and get up to him before that person killed him. I forced myself to lift my arms up and reach for a tree that was slightly towards the left of me. I kept reaching until I finally got a hold of the trunk of the tree. I used the rest of my strength to pull myself onto the tree. When I was on the tree, I had to find the tree which tree my dad was on. I was looking around until an object came rolling down the hill at the tree that I was previously on. It landed with a loud sound that cleared all of the birds out of the trees. When I looked close at the thing that just had fell from higher up the hill; it looked like a body. I automatically went over to the body to make sure that the person was okay. When I got close, I prayed that the body wasn't my dads. I started to turn over the body, and I saw the face. It wasn't my dad, but whoever the person was they were dead. I yelled up to my dad to see if he was okay, and he yelled back with a yes. I told my uncle and my dad to come down to the body. Once they finally reached where I was, I told them that the person was dead. They looked at the body and agreed with me. While looking at the face of the person I noticed, it was covered with mud. I decided to wipe off its face to actually see who it was. I started to wipe off the person's face, but then the body lunged on top of me. While sliding down the hill; the body tried to keep biting my face, and we finally hit the bottom.
