A life in 91 wordsA Story by Melissa HooverMake it quick and learn to live without regrets.Mom abandoned us. Dad used us. Foster care hadn’t an effect.
I was only ten. I lied. I cheated. I stole. I ran. Nothing helped. At sixteen I
slept in a juvenile detention cell. A mentor pulled me out and into a
classroom. He stood at my side as I toured colleges. I studied performance
piano because of his shared musical talents. A Ford Contour and an occasional
couch sufficed as my bed during my bachelor degree. Tribulation. Perseverance.
Companions over four years of study, now distant memories. I have grown. © 2013 Melissa HooverFeatured Review
