For Lindsey ----

For Lindsey ----

A Poem by Douglas Lyle

Created: Dedication: Lindsey ----

"

Listen,
I want to tell you about the folks down south

A
     -Dance under the crimson blankets
     -Reprint of returned irony
     -Psychologist hiding under the covers
     -Dream trying to die

We must go on
Push,
     Press on

Cringing and bewildered twinkles
     On the leaf
          From the tree
               That’s hiding our shadows

Becoming aware of the
     Shallow grave
It’s in front of gate,
     That disconnects the church
          From the world
Like a crow basking under the moon’s empathy

It’s all in our collective mind
A universe of prankster and comedians,
     Adrift in an anxiety-filled god
We feel safe

Agreement
     Will undermine all creative impulses

We must push,
     We must go on
Heading nowhere
We’ve already captured
     That elusive horizon
