Smokescreens and Mirrors

Smokescreens and Mirrors

A Poem by tynamite

Smokescreens and mirrors.

All that glistens isn't gold.

But diamonds can be unpure.

Coated and varnished.

Smokescreens and mirrors.

Inside you is carbon.

Waiting to be refined.

Trying to become valuable.

You see that person wanting better themselves, because they're not happy with the life they have.

Smokescreens and mirrors.

People are walking with gold.

But diamonds can be unpure.

Fabricated and varnished.

Smokescreens and mirrors.

They live with the finest carbon.

Their life looks so refined.

But carbon isn't so valuable.

You see that person wanting to be live like someone else.

You know that person should improve their outlook on life, and be grateful for what they have. They're already working hard in life, so they're doing something right. One day they will.

Love this poem.
Being greatful for what I have has saved my life.
It has pulled me from a deep depression.
Comparing yourself to others only
breaks down you have.
I still fall victim to this habit.

I loved your use of carbon and diamonds
also smoke and mirrors.

Smokescreens and mirrors.
People are walking with gold.

I love these lines. And the intent of your poem is so true. No one knows the trial of another person until they walk in their shoes. So they need to appreciate what they do have. Quite well done desbest.
