Repeated History

Repeated History

A Story by Tyler Cox

Its mood changes like a woman on her period. One second it's happy; birds are singing and the sun is shining. The next there are massive clouds rolling in, threatening a heavy downpour. In extreme cases there are hurricanes, tornadoes, erupting volcanoes, flash floods, and earthquakes. Sometimes its power is greater than that of man. He cowers in fear, hiding in his skyscapers and in basements. Does he not know what he's up against? I, for one, am fed up with his ignorance, his mindset that he can abuse the earth and her beauty. The day is coming where man will have to face his greatest enemy, his mortal foe: Mother Nature. And when that time comes I do believe that the sad, pathetic man will lose. I mean look back at t- rex and the rest of the dinosaurs. They were the "rulers" of earth for millions of years. But earth beat them. Next look at the saber- tooth tiger and wooly mammoth. They became the "rulers" of earth for another long period of time. But earth beat them. Now look at the current "rulers" of the earth. The end is coming sooner or later.

This is very short, which makes it difficult to review, but ill do what I can. I felt confused thorgh the first half because you didn't reveal what exactly you were talking about (nature), so all of the comparisons fell on deaf ears so-to-speak, because I didn't realize what you were comparing it all to. By the time I found out, it required a second read to have any connection with the comparisons.

Also, small nit-pick, I wouldn't say mother nature beat the dinosaurs because, technically, a meteorite did. And the sabertooth tiger and mammoth are probably good examples of creatures that survived the worst of natures wrath by evolving. Sabertooth tigers didnt go extinct, they evolved into different creatures. Sorry, I know it kicks dirt on the comparisons, i'm just a stickler for those kinds of things.

All in all it's good for a short passage but could use a bit of polish.
