Drowning...

Drowning...

A Poem by Ty Evans

I want to scream
to cry out for help,
but no sound leaves my lips.
Not a word can escape.

I would reach out to you
so you could pull me up,
so I can break the surface
and find air again.

I would reach out
but these chains hold be back.
They isolate
and weigh me down.

As I sink into the depths
trapped and useless,
I wish you would look down,
and see my fading silouhette.

I need you to reach out
and take hold of me.
Save me from the crushing darkness
that threatens to engulf me.

My vision fades
and my lungs ache.
I'm filled with pain
as you drift away.

I need you.
I can't make it on my own.
But a don't have the strength
to call for help...
