Blurry Visions

Blurry Visions

A Poem by James K. Blaylock

Blurry Visions

corked in

these bottles,

cuz, I'm busy,

hating this

awful place...

lost in drink,

and blurred;

nothing last forever,

not even booze, but,

I still try to make the

buzz stay, faithfully;

while ignoring that aging

face, staring, sadly, back

at me, from somewhere

beyond the mirror

This poem is very well written in that it doesn't avoid the pathos of being an aging, unhappy individual but it doesn't descend into bathos. The fact that you used a minimum of words to paint this picture only adds to the intensity of the poem. I like the work very much. The mirror is a damnable place sometimes.
