The Night Hunter

The Night Hunter

A Poem by James K. Blaylock

The Night Hunter

down from

the ceiling

it will

come nightly,

and through

the dark

shall it

now crawl...

biting at

the ankles

of anything

unknowingly,

and then

again climbing

up these

unlit walls

I think you need to change this from future tense to pesent tense to kick it. i. e. " down from the ceiling it comes nightly; through the dark it crawls" I think that is scarier...just my thoughts.

I got chills, just by imagining this scene. I like how you do not specify what the thing is, and how you use realistic, concrete things to tell your poem. My favorite thing in this poem is the last line, "up these / unlit walls".
