Reaching Up

Reaching Up

A Poem by James K. Blaylock

Reaching Up

add water,

and watch

me slowly grow...

I'll reach up

toward the heavens,

and all because

someone fed, my soul

Happy the one who found someone to whom he/she is worth enough searching and finding the soul within, caressing it, soothing it, and reinvigorating it. Isn't that the biggest part to well-being? ... The body isn't the only one who needs food and drink - the soul is also if not even more so a very hungry and thirsty essence, but not every being gets the right nourishment...

An amazing and inspiring write! I very much enjoyed it! Thanks...

This is such a lighthearted and inspiring piece. =] Its simple little rhythm was quite catchy and your lines flowed together magnificently.

One suggestion I'd make is in the last line, delete the comma. I think the comma makes the rhythm awkward. Also, the line doesn't seem to read right with the comma there.

But this is truly a lovely, heart-lifting little treasure. Beautiful work, I love it.

Yay! This is pure awesomeness!
I particularly enjoyed how at first I thought it was going to be about love and the imagery of a flower...but then in one line you changed the whole meaning! It shocked me and I think it was genius!

Nice annalogy. We grow as writers when we grow as humans. When someone touches our lives, hearts, and souls . . . we become better humans, and better writers. You have undoubtedly become a better writer. Your talent grows as if it were a flower touched by springtime

Good work, my friend

I absolutely adore the use of commas in this poem. You have such a knack for breaking up lines to create an unsurpassed flow and rhythm of words. Ahh! Brilliant.

A complex message penned in such an understandable selection of words.

I felt a positive vibe while reading this piece and I can tell your soul is growing, from your words.

Awesome job!
