you know i never would have thought of a zombie like that, i never would have thought of them as once a person with a family and a life that was behind them until i read this poem. from what i've seen in movies i just see them as brain eaters or gaunt looking beings with blood running down their faces. reading your poem i feel like there's something more to them. anyways, i completely agree with J. James Reider. that does seem the best way to write a zombie poem and you have accomplished it. congrats on the contest win!

I don't know why I have the apathy you speak of myself... a very legitimate question... I am sure if they existed and I saw one I would think them such horrid, wretched creatures, but this all transponds my fascination with death and the ability to kill with impunity so to speak. Zombie poems are best written in scattered images and unanswered questions, you accomplished both here successfully and should be looked at as containing some fundementals of horror writing... wonderfully written prose!
